Vintage Blackamoor Head Pendant / Charm 18k yellow gold Italy . Gorgeous little head with red Coral on 18K yellow gold. 25 mm in length / weight: . 078 oz / 2.2 g Marked on 2024 bottom K18 Unfortunately, the nose has been chipped off. Most Blackamoors I see listed claim that the black head is made from ebony. I would guess the head is made from either black coral or more likely natural volcanic rock called Obsidian. From the chip of the nose, I would say this is Obsidian, Ebony is a wood and does not chip in this way. I believe this was purchased in Italy in the early 1960's. There is no maker mark but it looks similar to most Italian Blackamoors and the woman whose mother owned it , traveled to Italy in the 1950's and 1960's.
