A rugged handmade leather wet formed sheath, made to fit the Benchmade Skinner knife.
This sheath is molded to only fit this knife. It is 10 1/2" long, and 2 1/4 " wide.
Vegetable tanned 8-9 oz., 5/32" thick leather is used on the sheath, belt loop and strap.
The belt loop has a 2 " opening, and is secured to 2024 the sheath by 2 solid brass Chicago screws.
2 solid brass snap provides a secure closure for the 1 5/8 "retention strap. The strap is not attached to the sheath. It is able to move some, but is a very tight fit.
2 more Chicago screws are attached at the welt edge.
Permatex high strength threadlocker is applied to all of the screws.
Ritza 25 Tiger thread, a waxed braided polyester thread from Germany is used to hand sew a saddle stitch, through the top, welt, and bottom layer of leather.
The welt is 3/4 to 1 "" wide, and provides a very tight, secure fit.
Fiebing's dark brown edge kote is applied to all edges of the leather.
Next, the leather is treated with Oberhauf's natural oils and beeswax.
Then Fiebing's dark brown antique is rubbed into the leather, for a luster finish.
*This sheath can be made for a left hand orientation, black leather and with different color thread.
