This fabric piece is called "Mater Mundi" (Mother of the World). It is 8" x 9 1/2". It is created from pieced batiks, painted and hand-dyed fabrics, glass beads, Swarovski crystal, a turquoise bear fetish bead, a pewter fruit tree, and gulf coast coral mounted on artist's canvas and backed with batik.
There is a removable wooden hanger in a fabric sleeve on the back. The piece can also be mounted in a shadow box (not included.)
The large image is an interpretation of the Venus of Willendorf with a hand-painted canvas earth, reflecting our deep connection to the earth as womb of life.
This is a perfect gift for a female mentor, an environmentalist, anyone who loves neolithic art and images, for Mothers Day, for a young woman going out into the world, or for someone seeking a meditation focus.
A sample meditation space with statues of Kwan Yin, Mary, and Siva is illustrated in the third photo above.
