Dream Days by Kenneth Grahame features 9 Maxfield Parrish illustrations. This is a collection of reminiscences of Grahame's childhood.

The Parrish-illustrated edition of Dream Days was issued in London and New York by The Bodley Head in 1902; it contained ten full-page illustrations (nine illustrating the eight selections plus frontispiece/title page) and several decorative illustrations plus pictorial endleaves.

A sequel to the 1895 collection The Golden Age (some of its selections feature the same family of five children). The book "paint (sic) a convincingly unsentimental picture of childhood, with the adults in these sketches totally out of touch with the real concerns of the young people around them, including their griefs and rages.

A Very Good Copy of this Book in original olive cloth stamped in numerous colors. The Bodley Head, London and New York, (1902). Original pictorial cloth, stamped in gold, red, green and black. Pp. [vi], 228. Illustrations all by Maxfield Parrish. A very good to fine copy, The second edition with the Parrish illustrations. One of Parrish's most successful books.

The plates in this printing were printed in gravure resulting in more depth and clarity than those printed in half- tone.

The spine is 2024 firm and the pages are all intact. There are some minor scuff marks along the edges of the covers. Paper slightly age toned, else near fine, attractive. Prior owner inscription on inside front pages.
