Antique 3 volume set of The Human Comedy by Honore Balzac 1893 edition Peter Fenelon Collier N.Y.
Volume one - 464 pages
Volume two - 381 pages
Volume three - 368 pages
The boards are in a very dark blue and beautifully embossed on the front board with three angels and enhanced with a lovely border. The titles on the front boards of all 2024 three volumes are in gilt that has some wear in a few areas but mostly intact and bright. The spines on all the volumes are gilded but very little of the gilt is remaining. The boards are in VERY good condition with minimal wear to the corners and no bumping.
The boards are clean with no stains, the upper and lower spine ends are crushed but not worn, see photos. The insides of the 3 volumes are clean, lightly tanned, no writing or inscriptions anywhere, no odors, no stains or foxing, no tears, or loose pages. The spines on all volumes are sound and the books have no lean. The page edges have attractive stippling on all three sides. The books measure 10 1/4" x 7" with a total thickness of 2 3/4".
This is a wonderful set that will be a fine addition to your library.
