Music Box ~ Inlaid Flower 2024 and Leaf on Burl ~ Jewelry Box ~ Made in Italy ~ 'The Shadow of Your Smile' ~ Reuge Swiss Movement

This lovely wood music box with a key for the lock, a compartment for jewels (or perhaps a lock of hair, maybe a treasured letter) and a mirror on 2024 the interior lid. It is made of burl wood veneer over mahogany with an inlaid flower and leaf design. The box sits 1/2" above the table on little feet. It is a graceful square shape made with quality craftsmanship in Italy with a Swiss Reuge movement. Every corner is perfect. The interior is lined in red velveteen. The music box plays 'The Shadow of your Smile'. You can listen to this music box playing on a YouTube video with the link at the bottom of this listing. The outside dimensions are 6 1"/8 x 6 1/8" x 2 5/8" tall. The interior compartment is about 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" and could accommodate something about 1 1/2" tall on the front half and about 3/8" on the back side that houses the mechanism. The finish is close to perfect; it looks like nothing was ever stored in it. There might be a few scratches, but they're certainly not obvious. The lid closes with a piano hinge.
