Saucer fascinators or percher hats have become very popular recently. These large, beautiful fascinators are usually worn on one side of the head. These hats have a dome shaped 'bump' in the middle that fits nicely against the head.

The base of the saucer hat block measures 23cm ( 9") in diameter and stands 6.5cm (2.5") tall. The depression in the top of the block measures 14cm ( 5.5" ) in diameter and is around 4cm (1.6") deep. The presser measures about 15cm ( 5.9") in diameter and is about 6,5cm ( 2.6") high. The presser block has a 2,4 cm (1") hole bored in it for mounting on a work stand; it will fit on most hat block stands.

This is a circular saucer fascinator hat block that comes with a dome shaped presser. The presser is placed over the top of the hat block to form the 'bump'. Place a weight on the top, this way it will be easier to pin the straw or felt material round the rest of the block. Once the material has dried, use your imagination to cut the desired shape. Usually milliners prefer an asymmetrical outline where one side of the fascinator is higher than the other.

The presser is a multi-functional hat block on its own. Use it to create sinamay, felt, straw or buckram bases for your headpieces. As the dome matches the shape of the head, you can use it to make different freeform headpieces.

This set of hat blocks is made from lime. This is a local tree that is widely spread in Northern Europe. It is a soft wood and easy to pin. The blocks have a lacquer finish to protect the wood.
