Souvenir Album of Lake County Indiana Automobile Races Crown Point Lowell June 1909, 2024 First Cobe Cup, Genealogy, History American Auto Racing

Here we have an extremely rare find- a souvenir album for the event that hosted the very first Cobe Cup auto race- which was won by the young Louis Chevrolet- a Swedish immigrant who became a race car driver and went on to found Chevrolet motors.

The cover and first page have been damaged as shown. The first page had the details of the auto race. The rest of the booklet is a treasure trove of Indiana history and genealogical information since most of the "town fathers" and various club members are pictured and written about. The booklet is in somewhat fragile condition and should be handled carefully. Except for the damaged cover and first page, all other pages are readable with minimal age related wear. At some point in the past, the spine was neatly reinforced with masking tape, as shown in photos.

We have only been able to find evidence of another single copy in existence, owned by the Lake County Indiana Historical Museum.
