Product code: College of Charleston, FRAMED 2024 Julia Homer Wilson Mid Century Print, The Cistern Yard, C of C Grad Gift Idea

Terrific Julia Homer Wilson (American 1910-2001) print, of the College of Charleston's historic Cistern Yard'. This finely detailed print is a copy of her watercolor and pencil sketch, for which she is known for and is signed in plate. The college Founded in 1770 and chartered in 1785, is the oldest college in South Carolina and the oval Cistern (in the foreground) is the literal and figurative center of campus. Each spring, this is where the College's commencement ceremonies take place, known as the one of the most beautiful graduation ceremonies in the country. For ovr 75 years, this annual tradition of graduates wearing white dresses or white dinner jackets has taken place in the Cistern yard, where ancient live oak trees draped with Spanish moss set the stage and the College's oldest building, Randolph Hall, provides a fitting backdrop. Later in May and early June each year, this space serves as a performance venue for jazz artists during the Spoleto Festival USA.

The print measures 10 x 13 and is presented under glass in a 1-3/8" wide gold frame with little speckles. It appears to be 'wrapped' as there is a little bit lifting in the back. Frame shows only a few light signs of expected use and storage. Glass appears to be unscratched. Outer dimensions of frame are approximately 12-1/2" tall x 15-1/2" wide x 5/8" deep.

Please 2024 message me should you only want the print and not the frame and/or glass and save on shipping.
