• DESCRIPTION •
Bird brooch (6.5 x 4.7 x 0.2 cm) in golden bronze with a set green unakite stone (3 x 2 x 0.4 cm).
On the back, one golden pin of 3.8 cm.

The bronze piece is handcrafted with bronze clay 2024 mixed with water which is baked 1h at 830°C in my kiln before brushing and sanding.

☺ A handmade, one-of-a-kind item designed and handcrafted in my workshop at Toulouse, Occitania, South West of France.


• BRONZE •
Bronze is a non-ferrous metal made up of copper and tin. It is the 1st alloy created by man.
The percentage of tin in the alloy gives to the bronze a color more or less golden.
☺ I work 2 colors of bronze: golden bronze and silvered white bronze, the color of which is close to that of silver.

Traditionally, bronze is worked with the lost wax method. The craftsman makes a mold of an original model then pours the liquid bronze into the mold.
☺ My working method is completely different and is based on modeling metal clay, a method developed in Japan in the 90s.


• METAL CLAY, FROM POWDER TO METAL •
In the raw state, my material is a fine metal powder (steel, silver, bronze, copper ...) that I rehydrate to obtain a metal clay. I can thus model my pieces, texturize them with stamps, engrave them using a needle ... Once dry, my parts are dried and sanded then fired at high temperatures. After firing, my parts are sanded again to find the color of the metal. These steps completed, I combine my metal pieces with tagua (vegetable ivory), stones, eggshells, tinted resin, concrete tinted with pastel blue (the blue woad of Occitanie declared French intangible cultural heritage in 2021), wood...

☺ I make my own bronze powders. For other metals (steel and silver), I've got a French supplier.

☺I've been working with metal clay since 2010 (Senior Certification Art Clay).

☺All my jewels are stamped with my brand name


• UNAKITE STONE •
The unakite stone is an altered granite stone made of orthosis (pink), epidote (green) and quartz (usually colorless).
Its name comes from the Unaka Mountains in the United States where it was found in 1874.

In lithotherapy, the unakite stone allows the wearer to come face to face with him or herself. It allows you to put things into perspective and take a step back.


• INSPIRATION •
I find my inspiration everywhere: in nature, in magazines, on the internet ...
☺ I always have a sketchbook with me. As soon as an idea arises, I draw it in my notebook to refine it later and possibly turn it into a jewel.


• CARE AND CLEANING •
Bronze will acquire a patina over time if you leave it in the open air. Also, I advise you to store your unworn jewelry in a closed pouch or jewelry box.
To clean your jewelry, you can use a simple cloth or better, a piece of jeans (my favorite method) with, if necessary, a metal cleaning cream or the juice of a real lemon.
