Victorian silver plated antique footed butter dish, Aesthetic 2024 quadruple silver plated butter dish, Meriden B. Company circa 1880 - 1910
Featured here is a very rare Aesthetic quadruple silver plated Butter dish made in the 1880 -1910 by the Meriden B. Company. The patent number 1941 is clearly printed on the bottom, along with the Meriden name. This would be the perfect piece to add to any Victorian or Edwardian collection. This beautiful piece is quite a find.
Please note that this butter dish listing is for all four pieces. I imagine that at one time a shallow glass dish would have held a hand made ball of fresh butter. However this glass piece is missing now, but the silver plated insert dish with the holes in the shape of a star is still there. I do not think that the knife is original to the set, but it fits perfectly in the holder. Study the pictures and look at the aesthetic details of both the lid and the bottom dish. Next look at the four feet on the bottom, they are perfect! Nothing crooked or askew; this piece is not bent, nor does it have any dings. Sorry, my reflection is in most of the pictures, and gives the silver a deep pink tinge from my pink top. You will notice that some of the silver plate is wearing away appropriately with age. It could use a good silver polish, and that would bring back its lustrous shine, and make the silver plate look astounding. This item is vintage and of course was used. This butter dish is sold as is.
