Vintage Indonesian Puppet/Marionette - Hand Carved, Painted and Crafted. You can not miss the beauty of the ceremonial headdress on this old puppet/marionette. Hand carved and painted, the entire head is quite striking. The skirt is made from batik fabric and all the hand crafted garments are fully intact. The stringing is original and has not been repaired.
It stands 22 1/2" tall when resting in the square block base. It is 6" deep and 5 1/2" wide at the widest points. It separates into three pieces for shipping or storing, the head, body with arms and manipulation sticks, and base block. It is in excellent condition. There is some very minor wear which would be expected on an old puppet like this and one dent on the head dress where the head was dropped. 2024 I have included a picture. This is a classically beautiful piece, perfect on it's own or to compliment your Asian decor.
