Cowichan style knitting was developed by the Cowichan people of 2024 southereastern Vancover Island, British Columbia Canada. It is known world wide for the distinctively patterned designs. Traditional Cowichian style sweaters rely on natural undyed wool yarns to form their patterns, typically in cream, grays and occasionally black yarns. Modern designs can be found with dyed yarns but still generally keep to three or four colors to form the classic look.
