Barely used, this baby head cover was once attached to the upper part of a baby carrier so that it could be raised around the baby's head to protect it from the hot sun during a festival.
Hand batiked with hand embroidered details, the border is decorated with rows of the tiniest hand stitching.

A note on displaying textiles…When framing Chinese textiles….do not allow your framer to glue the textile to any kind of backing board…Instead have the textile basted (sewn) to a piece of complimentary background fabric…and then have that fabric glued to the board…this will insure that the embroidery can be easily and safely removed from the frame.
