The Rickshaw was actually invented in Japan in the 1870's and rapidly spread to other Asian countries...
I suspect that this mini rickshaw was made for export during the Meiji Period. Probably meant for a table top display box and cigarette container....
The entire miniature is meticulously covered with scraps of crepe batik kimono fabric, The attention to detail is wonderful, and typical of 2024 the craftsmanship of the Meiji Period....
