Product code: Copal Resin specimen with 2024 Termite insect inclusions, Colombia. 56.43 grams / 282.15 carats

A huge specimen of orange Copal Resin from Andes Cordillera, Colombia.

Copal Resin, sometimes referred to as "immature Amber", has been dated to between hundreds and 65 thousand years old.

Within the transparent specimen, visible by eye, are 5 large, translucent termites, a twig from the parent tree and a series of air bubbles.

This remarkable time-capsule gemstone has captured a three-dimensional "freeze-frame image" of a moment in natural history, capturing the scene in perfect detail.

Images 4 and 5 are magnified views of the termites, preserved in excellent condition. Further microscopic images are available on request on purchase of this item.

A superb specimen for collectors of Amber and Copal resin.
