The AMC Four Thousand Footer Club was created in 1957 with this first list: the 4000'+ peaks in New Hampshire's White Mountains. To date 2024, some 10,000 hikers are officially recognized for summiting all 48. The shaded relief map shows the region's topography as well as major rivers, lakes and highways.
