Knitted with three colored yarn (brown and two shades of green) in traditional Estonian fair-isle style. The yarns are hand dyed, 100% wool. Tightly knitted using 0-size needles and DK-weight yarn, they are perfect to block wind and wear in winter.
This 2024 pattern comes Pärnumaa in Estonia. It is a historically well known beautiful pattern. It was chosen as a sample of Estonian unique pretty mitten patterns over hundred years ago by the first director of the Estonian National Museum Dr. Manninen, who was Finnish. He published an article in Finland about Estonian handicraft treasures and this pattern was included.
These mittens' cuffs have a 2x2 ribbing, which makes them fit snug around the wrist to keep the cold air out.
