A beautiful hand made Batik from Tuban in East Java. Tuli is the Indonesian word used to describe a batik that is totally handmade by "kanting" (pouring) the wax onto the material. It is not made by stamp or by mechanically printing onto the material. This is the traditional and most labour intensive way of making a batik.

This batik has a wavy diagonal background in off-white. very dark blue and dark chocolate brown 2024 with pheasants and flowers in red and brown. All natural dyes. It is in very good condition on soft cotton.

A Kain is a piece of material about 2 or a bit more metres in length. This one is an unusually long batik, 100cm high by 208cm long.
