Piñon Wand w/ Hand Crafted Glass Jewel; Carved of Pinyon/Piñon Trunk Wormwood - Southwest Sacred Healer, Meditation, Food 2024 for Soul Growth

This intricate and powerful wand was carved from the upper trunk of a high-desert piñon tree. He is a strong presence. The large turns to his trunk are natural, and the spiral carving was added to look like part of the trunk itself. The result is that he seems to collect and direct your energy very powerfully.
Because of his size and intricacy, there are several possible hand holds. There is even a small platform that can either be a thumb rest or, turning the wand another way, can nestle in the nook of your palm.
Finally, this wand is adorned with a swirling glass jewel of blue, red, yellow and clear glass, energetically echoing and augmenting the spiraling swirl of his trunk. I make this swirled glass myself in my kiln, and usually incorporate pieces like this one into pendants or other artwork.
The beautiful "wormwood" appearance to this wand is due to bark beetle. (Prior to carving, the wood was placed in an oven at low temp to ensure that no larvae remained. It then sat in my wood box indoors for additional months.)
This wand has amazing balance - the center of balance is just above the most comfortable hand-hold, making this wand's feel in your hand truly remarkable.
Because I consider these wands beautiful tools (not toys), I want them to retain the wood's sacred essence. Thus, all my wands are hand carved with whittling knives 2024 and hand sanded (no machinery is used). I then finish them with several layers of hand rubbed oils and waxes - all natural, food-grade and vegan (bees' wax free) - to give them saturation, protection, and a beautiful feel in the hand. I deeply love and respect the trees which offer these woods.

The wood of this one sacred tree is healer, meditative support, and food for body and soul.
All parts of the Piñon Pine have long been considered sacred by the Native American peoples of the Southwest – used in sacred ceremonies for purification, balancing energies, providing mental strength and healing.
The nuts of the Piñon tree have been harvested by Native peoples for hundreds of years, and are greatly coveted for their rich nutrition.
The resin and sweet smelling wood are used as a cleansing incense to deepen meditative states, as well as offer protection from directed negativity, and to promote renewal/new beginnings, fertility, abundance, and mental clarity
All my Piñon specimens were harvested at the Garchen Buddhist Institute retreat center in Arizona – land which is considered very sacred and holy – from trees that have died or lost limbs due to drought, fire or bark beetle.
