LAKE ERIE ARTIFACT, Clay Pottery 2024 Lake Erie Sunken Treasure/Artifact, Genuine Terra Cotta Big Chunk of Pottery Urn, Unusual Beach Find
A very special genuine sunken artifact that I found in shallow water at a secluded Lake Erie beach. It's a big piece of the top rim of earthen ware pottery that was a large urn. Dark brown in color with worn away areas that show the warm beige color of the natural terra cotta underneath. Beautiful classic design work is on it, which is hard to describe, and I also see vestiges of green algae between the indents of the designs. This thing would look so cool with underwater moss growing on it in your aquarium!
There is writing on the backside. The word "tax" is obvious, but you can only guess the rest.
The photos show it both dry and inside a little fish tank underwater so you can get an idea of how it would look. I observed that it doesn't 2024 get darker when in water. It's 1/2" thick at the bottom and gradually thickens up to 1 1/2" at the top. It measures 9" long, and 5 1/4" high. It is a solid piece. There are no cracks in it.
