The pattern stretches them out in long rows of speckles and spots, almost like a woven scarf. And it reshuffles the colors, so that they always come up in new combinations. My customers told me they wanted scarves a little wider than my original scarf, which was only 5 inches wide. So I've knit it wider, at 7 inches. And it is 60+ inches long, not counting the fringe. One reason I never tire of knitting these is that no two scarves are ever alike - they have the same colors, but in different sequences, and with different proportions. So your scarf will not look exactly like the one in the photo, but it will be very similar.
