VERY NICE Vintage Keuffel & Esser 4236 Polar 2024 Compensating Planimeter, Collectible Architectural Drafting Tools

This is a very nice vintage Keuffel & Esser 4236 Polar Compensating Planimeter tool used for drafting and design. It was made sometime between 1949 and 1957 in Germany. As far as we can tell, it looks to be complete, although there is no instruction book included with it. It seems to work smoothly, however, we don't know how to test it for accuracy. It's a mechanical tool designed to measure the area of a two-dimensional 2024 shape such as a boundary or region. These were used to tracing the boundary of a region in order to determine its area, such as a plot of land on a map for instance. These are very collectible, and this one is in excellent condition. The case is also in very good condition with minor wear, but the original owner did put his/her name on the inside. This piece has extremely sharp needle points, so use caution when handling!
