Antique French linen nightdress, monogrammed 2024 M.L night gown linen and handmade lace, Unused natural unbleached linen, romantic rustic fabric
A beautiful antique French linen Nightdress or night gown, made from a natural unbleached linen. A nightdress that was made around 1920, but never worn, by an old lady that lived nearby to us in a chateau, and when she passed away, her daughter came across a chest full of these night dresses that her mother had made, but never worn. I was lucky enough to buy 8 of them, and there are 2 different designs available. They were new and unused when I acquired them and are all made to an impeccable standard. The neckline is edged all the way around with a white handmade lace trim.
They had been in storage for nearly 100 years, and had some foxing along the folds. I have washed and ironed them and most have no stains or marks, the linen still crisp to the touch, the fabric flows beautifully, and drapes well, as shown on the photos. Some of them could do with a second launder, as there are very feint remains of the foxing (nothing sinister, and I tried to photograph the worst, but it is not very easy to capture). The monogram is a red pair of initials "M.L" on ALL of the nightdresses, it is a beautiful hand sewn delight.

Great for your French country house or anywhere the beautiful vintage design would enhance your décor, a true piece of history from a bygone era.
If you are looking for perfection and immaculate items then this is not for you. Nothing sinister but they have small bobbles and some slightly uneven weave in places, which I feel only adds to the authenticity of a vintage find. There are no marks, it is just the nature of older woven fabrics that they are not always exact and even.
