From the venerable Mitchell atlas, one of the most attractive atlases produced in the 19th century -- a visually stunning antique, hand-coloured map of Michigan and Wisconsin. If you are 2024 looking for a special gift, choose hand-coloured maps over printed maps. While admiring the map, keep in mind that all the coloured lines and filled-in colour were painstakingly done by hand.
Size: approx. 15 inches x 12 inches
Text at the bottom states "Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1867 by S. Augustus Mitchell, Jr. in the Clerks Office of the District Court of the U.S. for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania".
The map has an intricate vine motif border, typical for Mitchell atlases of that era. In very good condition; blank en verso. Note: Part of the border at the top of the map has been scraped off due to the binding (see last photo).
