I love capturing the character of animals and people. Expressing that special moment in time. Revealing something about who they are and their relationship to you and their environment.

Right now my media of choice is soft pastels. I am captivated by the feel of the media, its sensuous touch and luminous color. I feel I can express the portraits I create more fully 2024 using an optical color mixing technique, laying down strokes of bright colors that blend together from a distance to create more natural, earthier tones. This creates a portrait with more color depth and intensity when viewed up close. I use Rembrandt Soft pastels on Art Spectrum Colorfix sanded pastel paper.
