Russell Hamamoto Northwest Washington Studio Pottery Hand Thrown Vase Cookie Jar With FAT Cork Top - Tacoma WA Potter 2024 - MCM Cookie Jar
A large hand thrown studio pottery vase cookie jar made by northwest Washington studio potter Russell Hamamoto.
He was a student of F Carlton Ball and sold his wares at local NW craft shows and galleries such as the Old Town Potters gallery in North Tacoma which also offered F Carlton Ball's work in the 1980's. His work has been exhibited at the Tacoma Art Museum 2024 and he has been featured in Ceramics Monthly magazine.
This unique hand thrown studio pottery vase is finely crafted and has it's original cork top.
The top and inside of the vase have a tenmoku style metallic brown glaze.
The body has a natural tone yellow glaze that allows the iron oxide in the clay to show through randomly. This same glaze is found on many of William Creitz pieces.
The front of the pottery jar has a fancy hand applied border with COOKIES stamped on the front.
The underside shows the stoneware clay body and is signed by the artist Hamamoto and has his mark in Japanese.
It measures 9.5" tall without the cork and is 6.5" wide in the middle and is in nice original condition with no signs of use.
A great northwest pottery cookie jar perfect for your mid century kitchen.
