2024 An oriental style floral design makes this a gorgeous pendant you will delight in wearing. The peach color background has bands of blue and turquoise with slightly raised red flowers and stems. Handcrafted in precious metal clay, it was left with a brilliant finish on the fine silver setting. It measures about 7/8" wide and 1 3/4” high with a generously sized bail. The back of the piece is marked with my initials, PH and .999 fine silver. As with all my work, it is a one of a kind creation and it comes in a little, white gift box.
What is Precious Metal Clay
Precious Metal Clay, PMC, has microscopic particles of silver mixed with a moist binder to create a material that has the feel and working properties of modeling clay. Using clay working tools, objects are easily given shape, texture and character. After air-drying, the pieces are fired in a kiln to temperatures approaching the melting point of the metal, where particles fuse together to make a dense fully metallic object of .999 fine silver.
What is Dichroic Glass
Dichroic glass is made by evaporating micro-thin layers of metal oxides on glass in a vacuum chamber. After fusing it with other glass, certain wavelengths of light will either pass through or be reflected, resulting in a distinctive and intensely colorful metallic appearance. Given the variations in the firing process, each piece is unique.
