Antique Horse Letter Opener - 9.5" silverplate handle paper knife celluloid plastic blade - PR NS ALP Hoka Germany 2024

This handsome antique letter opener features a gorgeous horse head handle, made of silver plated nickel silver (aka alpaca or German silver). The horse has a beautifully detailed face on both sides with repousse leaf decoration, bridle and reins. The blade is made of celluloid early plastic and is patterned to resemble ivory. There are small initials "E.A." engraved on one side and it is hallmarked "PR NS ALP" (prima nysilver aka nickel silver alpaca) and "Hoka" for Hohmann & Katz - Pforzheim, a German manufacturer of silver and plated items. This lovely old paper knife would make a wonderful addition to a letter opener collection or the perfect gift for a horse lover. **Sorry, props and other letter openers shown are 2024 not included.

- Condition: Very Good- minor surface wear to blade... aged patina and spots to silver plate but you could polish it if you prefer. (More info about condition grading is in the FAQs section below)
