Encaustic painting is an ancient technique that goes back to the Greeks. It is a medium that's combined out of beeswax and tree gum, which is called dammar resin. The Dammar hardens the beeswax and gives it more transparency. Also it raises the melting temperature and makes the Medium much more resilient 2024 than the pure beeswax is. If you want to work with the Medium you have to melt it at about 90°C to use it like paint.
To take care for your encaustic artwork is like with any other artwork! Do not hang in direct sunlight, and of course keep away from any strong heat (over 150°F) or from freezing cold temperatures.

In addition, it increases the melting temperature and makes the medium much more resistant than the pure beeswax. If you want to work with the medium, you need to melt it at about 90°C to use it like paint.
Caring for your encaustic artwork is just like any other work of art! Do not hang in the direct sun, and of course keep away from any strong heat (above 65°C) or strong cold source.
