Jewellery Box Solid Walnut Vintage French Storage Box 19th Century Victorian Handmade 2024 Dovetail Jointed Camera Chest

I bought this box in a small village sale not far from our house her in the jura region of France, The box was being used to store wool ends and clearly had been for some years. When I asked to buy the box the owner explained that her grandfather had kept his camera in the box originally, so perhaps the two holes which are drilled in the base of the box are for that purpose. The box itself is hand made from walnut; you can see on the plank which makes the lid that the wood was hand sawn. The through dovetail joints show that this was a box which was made to last and was made with great care. I have polished it and it looks beautiful. It could be used as a jewellery box, watch box, or just for storage
