"Girl & Crow" The emotive gestural figure emerged from a particularly touching life drawing session. The model began with every pose on the floor, hiding her face, slugging her body, yet completely vulnerable in her raw state. She slowly transitioned her poses to half standing, to finally standing.

"The first step of flying is falling"

The crow was sketched in after the life drawing session. It was 2018, and the crow had been flying with me physically and metaphorically since the year before (visit my instagram, @subtlebodies_art to see videos of my beloved crow companion). I had begun 2017 with some major endings. The crow appeared again and again in dreams, gifted amulets and in the essence of finding other "crow people". I still wear a gifted crow pendant from 2018 every day... It reminds me that to create, I must simultaneously cull.
