This fabulous necklace is truly a work of art! The hand carved tourmaline is exquisitely worked into the shape of a flower and set in a hand made sterling silver claw setting. The setting is placed atop a stem of solid sterling silver, which manages to be both substantial and delicate and the same time. Complimenting the flower is a lovely Little green jade cabochon, carved in the shape of a leaf and set in a hand-made bezel Setting. This gorgeous necklace is completely hand made, and totally unique!

The name "tourmaline" comes from the Sinhalese (Sri Lanka) word "tura mali," which translates as "the stone of mixed colors." Ancient legend says that tourmaline is found in all colors because it traveled along a rainbow and gathered all the the rainbow's colors. Tourmalines are said to have the power to enhance understanding, increase self-confidence, amplify psychic energies, and to aid in concentration and communication. They are thought to neutralize negative energies, and dispell fear and grief.

Jade has been mined since as early as 6000 BC. Among the earliest known jade artifacts excavated from prehistoric sites are simple ornaments (like buttons), knives, axe heads, and other weapons. As metal-working technologies became available, the beauty of jade made it valuable for ornaments and decorative objects. In the Chinese Imperial court, 2024 jade worked into objects d'art by skilled artisans had a status-value exceeding even that of gold or silver.
