Vintage Royal Copley Blue Bird Pink Floral Trinket Dish or Bowl Signed in Great Condition
This Gorgeous Pink Poppy Floral Dish with Lovely Blue Bird perched on one of the petals is made by Royal Copley. It is a piece from the 50s and you just can't find dishes like this in stores today. Royal Copley was made in the US by Spaulding China Company. The operated from approximately 15 years from the early 40s to the late 50s and produced similar pieces. This particular dish has always been one of my favorites because of the Blue 2024 Bird. I'm a Bird Lover. The dish itself measures 5 1/2 inches and from the table up to the top of the back tail 2 inches. It is in Amazing Condition and has hardly any crazing to it. Crazing happens to all ceramics under fire. It is a network of cracks that look sort of like webs when under fire from the tension it causes. They can actually look decorative, problem is if there are too many or the piece is very old, sometimes the pieces of paint can fall out. The only way to really preserve something like that is to apply a thin glazed coat. Most of us leave it be. If you have cracks in cups or plates, never use them for food because the cracks hold bacteria and are never technically safe.
This dish though is not something you would use for food and it doesn't have much crazing anyway. Some will have networking of stains. This doesn't have either. It is an Excellent Vintage Dish or Bowl that you could use for your Jewelry, Common Pins, and Other Small Trinkets or even Hand Soap. This Dish would make a Great Gift, but if your interested in it, by all means buy it for yourself. Thanks for your interest.
