This is an original creation by Leap Photography, LLC. It was created using one of our original still life photographs and the encaustic painting process. First the digital image is printed 2024 onto a piece of paper. The image is then hand-burnished into a mixture of beeswax and damar resin. The next step is to wet the paper and very gently rub the paper off, leaving the image embedded into the wax. I typically accomplish this by using a metal spoon. The image/pigment is then fused into the wax with the use of a heat gun. This process creates a unique photo-transfer. As you can see, the end result is truly a one-of-a-kind piece of wall art. In fact, each piece created has slight variations in the texture of the wax and the transfer of the ink pigments.
This particular piece of art sits atop a 6"x6" wood panel. It's ready to hang on the wall. No framing is necessary.
