Tornado Destruction Original Painting by Stephen Powers with Vintage Matchcovers Blonde Venus 2024 & Food

A destructive tornado causing damage, death, and lighting, seen with two vintage matchcovers. The upper matchcover is pinup art called Blonde Venus. The lower matchcover is called Good Things To Eat featuring a club sandwich, a pineapple 2024 fruit salad, and coffee. Original painting on wood signed and dated by Stephen Powers in 2002. In keeping with the tornado theme the Blonde Venus matchcover has some wear and handling. It is interesting to think of where the matchcovers originated from and how many people used them. The Good Things To Eat matchcover shows the tiny staple holes (matchbooks had paper matches stapled to the insides). The wood is painted around all four sides with dots. The matchcovers were firmly glued to the wood first and then the rest of the wood was primed before it was painted. Many are fascinated by tornados but not what they do to populated areas. This painting helps us remember to be careful when tornados are near. Depth is 1/4 inch.
