Ichabelle is reserved. Thanks! :0) (Please see her story below :0)

Ichabelle is an "art" monster, which means that she has lots of extra detail work, both in her sculpt and painting. She was quite time consuming, so very few of her will be made. She is also considerably larger than my usual sized monsters. (See the group photo. :0)

How she was made

Ichabelle seems to be lots of creatures rolled into one cute monster. Could she be part baboon? A little goat? A bit of warthog? A dabble of dragon? She is quite exotic!

Ichabelle was sculpted from clay, with all sorts of little details, like her small, curved horns, upward curled ears, nostrilly snout, curving pointed tail, a spike, fangs, and little claws. Details like Ichabelle's smile, claws, belly button, eyebrow and snout texturing were carved into the clay while it was wet.

Then she was hand painted with acrylics. Three shades of purple -- from pale and deep lavenders to a lovely lilac, with touches of gray in zinc and deep charcoal -- define her furry head and personable snout. Her body is rich turquoise-y teal, with metallic teal for her largish feet and the triangular tip of her tail, and aqua teal for the curvy part of her tail, and the fashionable spike on the back of her head. Accents of white define her horns, fangs, and claws. Ichabelle has golden yellow eyes which are very expressive -- and rather friendly -- and almost seem to glow. Hundreds of tiny fur strokes were added to Ichabelle using a very tiny brush, while shading in all of the right spots lends depth and realism.

After painting, Ichabelle was finished with matte and satin varnishes combined, for protection, realism, and a hint of glossiness. She is a chunky girl, and feels smooth and solid in your hand. Since she was entirely hand formed and handmade, Ichabelle is completely unique and one of a kind.

If you love unique (and also quite cute) creatures, Ichabelle would feel right at home at your house. (Put her anywhere you would like to smile.) She would be a real conversation starter, and would add character wherever she roosts.

If you know someone who likes monsters or quirky creatures, Ichabelle would be just the right gift, and would be sure to mind her manners at their house. She will be packaged in a nice gifty sort of box, and shipped out quickly. (And with free shipping!) Tracking is provided for US destinations.

Ichabelle's story

If you have read Ignatius's story, you'll remember that he just wandered into Hilda's House of Hair (a frilly little pink hair shop in the pretty part of town) and eventually began working there himself, even creating some of his own signature hairdos, usually consisting of tying ladies' hair in multiple knots. (Which they were surprisingly happy with.) He liked hanging out with the shop's owner, Hilda, and thought she was very kind and sweet to let him sleep on the couch in her apartment above the salon. But when you are the only large hairy monster around, after a while -- or three and a half years to be exact -- you get a bit lonely.

Sometimes Ignatius would stare out the window at the distant mountains sloping toward the sky, and wonder if there were still other monsters out there somewhere. He had memories of furry creatures similar to himself, but didn't know how to find them -- or even how he had lost them in the first place. He didn't even remember what kind of 2024 monster he was. Ignatius communicated with Hilda using grunts and snorts for the most part, but she had taught him a few English words. One day, after completing what might have been his most impressive knotty up-do ever, when the salon was empty and quiet, except for Ignatius and Hilda, who was pouring over the shop's account books, Ignatius lumbered over to Hilda at the desk. When she looked up inquiringly, he pointed to himself and said "One."

At first Hilda was confused, and thought he was doing some sort of elementary counting exercise. She pointed to herself and said, "one," and then pointed to Ignatius and then to herself again, and said, "two." After counting the six hair dryers, two sinks, and eight swiveling chairs while Ignatius shook his head, Hilda finally got the idea. Ignatius was lonely. Hilda sent away for one of those heredity kits, and gave Ignatius the small test tube, which he ate. When the second kit arrived, Hilda explained that Ignatius was supposed to spit into the tube -- which he thought was extremely fun -- and they sent it off to the heredity research lab.

It seemed like eons to Ignatius while he was waiting for the results, but finally they came. As excited as he was, Hilda tore open the envelope, quickly scanning the contents.
"Oh!" she said. "You are a monster!" Ignatius rolled his eyes.
"Guess we knew that." Hilda seemed a little embarrassed. She then read aloud to him exactly what type of monster he was, where his ancestors had started out, and that he was most likely lactose intolerant.
"This says that they have other monsters like you on their ancestry site!" Hilda ran to get her computer, and showed him the furry faces of several monsters who closely resembled him. There was an old chartreuse monster with a long beard and a unibrow, a sort of sneaky looking monster in a black leather jacket who ran a casino in Las Vegas, and then -- and this is when Ignatius grabbed the computer -- a very colorful purple and teal monster named Ichabelle, who, amazingly enough, lived just a town or two away!

So Hilda contacted Ichabelle's people, and Ignatius brushed his fur (and his fangs) and they went to the zoo on their first date -- which didn't work out that well, because the zoo workers, mumbling under their breath about who the heck had let them out, kept putting them in cages. But Ignatius and Ichabelle were so instantly enthralled with one another that they barely noticed when Hilda came in her monster truck (which is what it takes to haul monsters around) and brought them back to the salon.

Since that amazing day, Ignatius and Ichabelle have been inseparable. Hilda was happy that Ignatius was no longer "one monster," and she happily showed Ichabelle how to do hair, make-up and nails. Ichabelle continued to live with the people one town over who had first taken her in, but she was a permanent fixture at the salon -- which made Ignatius quite happy.
