Malachite glass first produced in Czechoslavakia in the 1930's. It is made in such a way as to mimic the marble.
Most of the molds for Bohemian malachite glass were designed by Curt Schlevogt in the 1930's and first produced under the name "Ingrid" by the Riedel glassworks. They have been continuously produced since that time, with only a short break during the second world war. Originally offered in jade green and lapis blue, they have since been made in a wide range of colors.
It is extremely difficult to tell the difference between an original Riedel "Ingrid" piece and a good quality contemporary piece from the same moulds.
Some sellers have referred to the quality of handwork on the originals as an indicator, but put an original and a later pressing together 2024 and it is almost impossible to tell them apart, other than wear. It's possible we can only identify "Ingrid" pieces by their labels. So I will not claim or guarantee this to be an original, but say this is from Curt Schlevogt mould.
