This painting that I wanted to complete as a way of looking back, and expressing gratitude for those who lived and worked so hard to create opportunities in our community we enjoy today.

My process is one of multiple phases or 2024 facets. I make several sketches, gradually honing in on the final composition. I start not only with an image, but more importantly, what I want to say with it. For me, my process is focused on communicating a feeling- the experience of a scene, and share that with the viewer. In this time, I felt myself longing for something bright, warm, and calming. I longed to feel cheerful again. Painting this painting brought that to me when I needed it most.

I hope this painting brings you feelings of joy, peace, and calm.
