Vintage Chinese Bookends Plaster / 2024 Chalk Ware Chinese Laborers Bookends

This is an old set of bookends that seem to be made of plaster or chalk ware and painted bronze color. They depict two Chinese men with queues laboring to hold up the books. These both have chips, rubs, wear and tear, but no cracks. Some how their flaws just seems to add to their charm and appeal. I am estimating their age to be from the 1940's, but perhaps they are older. The detail of the men is remarkable. You can see their Chinese queue braid going down 2024 their backs over their muscles which are straining to push against the weight of the books.
