Product code: Wood sculpture, hand carved, mountain driftwood, abstract, wood art, curio 2024 63
From the Cabinet of Curiosity Collection, this piece sprung into view of the carver's eye as if a rabbit darting across a mountain trail. In its found state in the avalanche field, where Jeffery and Sugar pines were mowed down by a mountain side of snow, 2024 the crusted barked deadwood looked almost burnt to a crisp. Its shape creature-like but unidentifiable. Later, during shaping, the creature form, something ancient lizard like, became more prominent. Its true identity would be left to the observer, or archeologists. With humor, the carver used the working title “Land Rover” to describe this piece. It is mounted on a plank of pine, with clear finish. The piece itself was finished with oil.
