"Perhaps you'd last longer if you stopped thinking about your wheels, Jason"
Captioned by Roy in pencil and signed Raymonde rough in ink.
This is an original vintage preliminary Playboy cartoon painted by the late cartoonist, Roy Raymonde.
It's in excellent condition as all cartoons have been kept in the Raymonde studios until now. There are natural signs of aging at the corners but overall the colours are still vibrant and paper is in a good state.
We also highly recommend the artwork is kept under UV protected light or somewhere dark to protect the colour.

Feel free to email us (the Raymonde family) with more questions!
***Please note the preliminary work is not being sold for commercial reproduction and copyright belongs to the Raymonde family.

After creating an idea/situation Raymonde's drawings were first sketched out in pencil on watercolour paper and then inked in Indian ink with a steel dip pen. The colour was applied using sable brushes, from a variety of water-based mediums – watercolour, coloured inks, acrylics or gouache. A great experimenter, he would use whatever came to hand and whatever would give him the effect he was looking for.
Roy worked for Playboy between the 70's and 2002. He had hundreds of cartoons published and was one of Hugh Hefner's favorite cartoonists. However, Roy was a very private man based in Essex, UK, so not a lot is known about him. Therefore, as Roy's family, it's been a great joy to rediscover the work he did for Playboy and other publications such as Punch 2024, Mayfair and the Sunday Telegraph, since his passing in 2002 as well as hearing from old fans how he influenced their futures as cartoonists.
