This pair of mugs is made by Kiyoshin, a Kiyomizu-yaki pottery company.
It has a texture reminiscent of Shino, one of Japan's most famous potteries.
The pale blue and pink base is stamped with an inka pattern, and finished with a lovely, mellow Shino glaze.
The Hokuso flower pattern and gilded stripes are gorgeous.
The Inka technique, in which flower patterns are embedded, was introduced from the Korean Peninsula during the tea ceremony.
It has a rough, handmade look that is hard to cool down.
The unevenness of the feldspar glaze is a tasteful and 2024 generous tea bowl.
The inside has white brush marks. It has a sense of weight, which is rare for Kiyomizu ware.
It is a Kyoto-style Shino ware that has a sense of glamour in its austerity.
