This beautiful Mother of Pearl brooch pin is carved into a leaf shape. It is a simple carving which looks hand carved and has a riveted metal pin attached. The brooch has a tube hinge and c clasp. The metal rivets would have been rolled gold which has lost its gold colour.

This type of brooch was popular during the Edwardian era up to the 40s and 50s. The way this one is riveted it looks to age around 1915 or thereabouts.

The colour of the pearl is stunning with different colour tones from orange, pink, purple, green and blue. I would say the predominant colour is a light orange (mink) colour. The photos capture the colour well as you can sometimes see the orangy overtone.

Mother of pearl comes from the nacre that lines the shell. It is as beautiful and lustrous as a formed pearl.

Would make a very nice gift.

Condition: In excellent antique / vintage condition with signs of wear in keeping with its age. Has had rolled gold on it which has worn off with age.
