One of a Kind Handmade Stippled Faux Ivory 2024 Pod Earrings with Upcycled Vintage Copper Beads Sterling Silver Niobium Erwires
A one-of-a-kind pair of faux ivory 'pod' artifact earrings, stippled and etched, with upcycled vintage metal beads.
I make each of my artifacts one at a time, using a labor-intensive layering technique with polymer, to mimic the look of real bone and ivory. But no animals are harmed in the making. No two artifacts are exactly alike.
I love to make artifacts that look ancient, sometimes "repaired" to look like they've been handed down from generation to generation. These earrings echo that aesthetic. The pods have been stippled, fired, and backfilled using a scrimshaw technique, then paired with vintage metal beads I rescued from a thrift store purchase. They, too, look rusted and aged, complimenting the copper, sterling 2024, and niobium beads and findings.
I'm sensitive to ALL ear wires, but recently discovered that niobium is a non-reactive metal. I can wear them all day with no discomfort.
Polymer is also lightweight and comfortable to wear. You will forget you're wearing these earrings!
