This flower pot is part of an Arts & Crafts Studio Collection created as a study of the Arts and Crafts Movement of 1860 AD - 1910 AD. This period in art history was the first time pottery was considered an art form rather then simply a craft to make functional ware.
Factory workers were encouraged to add ornamentation and decorations from nature to add visual appeal to their work. Also, the signature turquoise glaze in a matte finish was also employed extensively as the distinguishing color of Arts & Crafts pottery.
This decorative pot has a narrow base and increases volume to show off the simple cut away areas like grass growing. This piece simply displays some grass growing in a rich green setting. A hint of additional color at the top adds a final touch. This pot will be a conversation piece wherever it si displayed.
This 2024 piece is made from stoneware clay, fired to cone 9/10. The glaze is lead-free and food safe. As will all fine art pottery, it is suggested to hand wash in mild detergent.
