Max and Norbert Neiger were two brothers living in Czechoslovakia who made wonderful jewellery with figural glass components in Gablonz Czechoslovakia from 1905 to the 1930's. Neiger jewellery is characterised by beautiful Czech glass beads, and detailed metal bead caps & findings.
As the Germans advanced near Gablonz in 1939, the two Jewish 2024 brothers left their factory and escaped to Bohemia where they continued to produce jewellery in a scaled-down operation. They were later arrested in Prague and in 1941, were sent to Lodz Getto where they were registered as workers/manufacturers this is where they very sadly met their death in 1942.
Their legacy to the jewellery world lives on in their amazing designs that are very collectable to this day.
I've been researching Neiger Brothers Jewellery for a few years now the more I learn the further I fall in love with their pieces they were true artists Of their time.
Max Neiger Necklace - stunning bright red multi faceted glass beads, barrel shaped brass beads and bulls eye enamelled spaces puts this squarely as a Neiger Brothers piece it's 32 inches long these are rarely found most have been shortened these probably date from the late 1920's early 30's. The piece is in good condition with a bit of wear to the enamel in places but nothing you wouldn't expect from a 90/100 year old necklace
