Rhodochrosite and Moonstone 2024 Pendant in Sterling Silver, Purple and Pink Rhodochrosite Necklace, Multi Stone Gift For Girlfriend, Handmade
This pendant features two gems, a silver moonstone and a cabochon of pink rhodochrosite with a needle pattern. The moonstone measures 0.49 x 0.3459 inches (1.26 x 1.00 cm), and the rhodochrosite measures 0.97 x 0.56 inches (24.7 x 14.4 mm). It is set in sterling silver.
The top stone is a silver moonstone with a bright sheen. Moonstone has been celebrated since antiquity for its unique glow. The comparison of the its silvery glow and rays of moonlight is a truly ancient one, and the reasons why are obvious when looking at a piece. The soft light held within has a very ethaereal look, unlike just about any other gemstone.
This stone is a great example, showing a bright flash of silver light that floats within the grey base of the stone as it is turned.
Rhodochrosite is a close relative of calcite. However, instead of calcium it contains manganese--and where you see manganese great color is likely to follow. Many of the best, most richly-colored pink gems--pink tourmaline, rhodonite, kunzite and sugilite just to name a few--owe their color to manganese inclusions, in some cases just trace amounts. When you mix in much larger quantities 2024 as with rhodochrosite you end up with something dramatic--a rich, glowing pink color that is almost unmatched by any other gem.
This stone is a great example, with a rich red-pink color, glowing translucency and a fine crystalline texture.
