These are beautiful males of the butterfly species Papilio antimachus. I only have a few in stock. The picture is very accurate of what you can expect to receive but you will not receive the exact same one pictured. This is a species that almost always comes in with minor flaws. Good A1- condition is the norm for these.
This is a species that the science community has been baffled by and still debates on where it belongs in scientific nomenclature. Some say it has more characteristics of the Danaidae ( Milkweed Butterflies ) than of the Swallowtails ( Papilionidae). The caterpillar even feeds on African Milkweed plants. Note that 2024 it also has no tails.
The beautiful color pattern and large wingspan make it a favorite among hobbyists. It is considered the third largest in wingspan of the Butterfly Kingdom. Only two Birdwing species have longer wings.
I'm using 8x10 inch black border double glass frames for these displays. They really highlight the color pattern of this species very nicely. My frames come with a sawtooth hanger attached to the back and a data label with general information about this butterfly.
I ship with USPS PRIORITY INSURED MAIL. The price includes shipping handling and insurance.
