Product code: Seal Feeding on Clams Vintage Inuit 2024 Art
An attractive vintage Inuit stone carving of a slender seal feeding on clams. Satin Finish.
One flipper "waving", while the left side flipper is more simplified and held close 2024 to the body. As far as I know, this is original to the carving but seems a bit odd. However, sometimes Inuit artists end up having to modify their carving as they go along if the stone doesn't co-operate.
Unsigned. Has the unilingual Canada Eskimo Art "igloo" tag on the underside.
Also written "Churchill, 1979" in felt marker, which may (or may not) reflect where and when it was made, simply where an owner acquired it (Churchill, Manitoba).
Weight: approx. 629 grams (1 pound 6.2 ounces)
